Shop validation record
Laser Cutting Test Cut Log
Capture a sample cut, the exact conditions, and the measured result in a reusable CSV record. Preserve an approval or re-test decision before carrying a setting into a quote.
Content reviewed 2026-11-02. Use the rows as a checklist or shop record; they do not replace a drawing, machine manual, or inspection requirement.
Source
Drawing, machine manual, supplier record, or timed shop test.
Applicability
Apply only to the stated material, process, and quality requirement.
Confidence
Shop validation is required before reuse in a quote.
Input to capture
Machine, head, material batch, thickness, gas, nozzle, focus, speed source, pierce routine, and inspection requirement.
Output to carry forward
A downloadable pending, approved, rejected, or re-test record. Approval remains the shop reviewer’s decision and applies only to the documented conditions.

| Capture settings | Power context, speed source, gas, nozzle, focus, pierce routine, and revision | Do not reuse a setting without matching conditions. | Attach the applicable drawing, machine, supplier, or shop record. | Requires shop validation |
| Inspect result | Cut time, dimensions, edge quality, dross, discoloration, and defects | Attach inspection evidence to the row. | Attach the applicable drawing, machine, supplier, or shop record. | Requires shop validation |

Test record
Fill a local record and download it as CSV. Inputs are held in this page only, are not submitted, and are cleared when the page reloads. The status is your record of a shop decision; this worksheet does not approve settings.
Review example
Illustrative record: coupon A and coupon B use the same material lot, nozzle, gas, and program; only feed changes. Record the actual feed and source unit for both, then compare measured dimensions and edge quality against the same drawing requirement. Select the passing record only after review. A change to material, optics, nozzle, gas supply, or required finish triggers another review rather than automatic reuse.
A blank result, missing acceptance requirement, or missing reviewer leaves the record pending even if a visually clean cut was obtained.
Sources and scope
Content reviewed 2026-11-02. A documentation reference supports the stated method or data only; it does not approve settings on another machine.
- LightBurn — Material Test
Supports the test, compare, and save workflow for supported LightBurn devices. It does not supply metal-cutting presets or validate another controller.
Use the result in the quote workflow
- Attach the record to the job or drawing revision.
- Keep the source and review date with the assumption.
- Escalate to the machine manual or quality owner when the result is outside the recorded boundary.
