Measured work-content worksheet

Measured Finishing Time

Build a finishing-time allowance from your measured deburr, clean, inspect, and packaging steps. Keep setup minutes separate from per-piece labor and export the batch calculation with its timing source.

Content reviewed 2026-11-02. Verify the applicability of each source before using a value in a quote.

Input to record

Batch quantity, measured setup and per-piece minutes by stage, part/finish requirements, sample record, and review context.

Output to carry forward

Stage totals, batch work-content minutes/hours, allocated minutes per piece, and a CSV evidence record for the finishing guide and laser quote.

Finishing time worksheet

Enter measured minutes for all four stages. Use 0 only for a stage you have confirmed is not part of the route. Setup is counted once per batch; per-piece time is multiplied by quantity. Fields start blank because no default shop time is assumed. Inputs remain local and clear on reload.

Enter a whole positive batch quantity and finite, nonnegative minutes for every stage.

Treat the sum as work content. Parallel labor, machine waiting, drying, and queue time can produce a different elapsed duration. For sampled inspection, allocate the measured inspection minutes to this batch explicitly. Do not also include the same labor in another quote line.

The export remains unreviewed until the source and context fields are completed.

Timing method

  1. Define the required edge, surface, inspection, and packaging route from the drawing and job instructions.
  2. Time setup separately from repeated work. Preserve raw samples, the actual sample count, part condition, operator, and method.
  3. For each stage calculate setup minutes + batch quantity × measured minutes per piece. Sum the four stages.
  4. Separate labor work content from elapsed queue, drying, or unattended process time. Explain any allocation for sampled inspection.
  5. Have the shop reviewer approve the assumption for the matching part and method. Carry these minutes into the existing finishing cost guide; the laser-cutting quote remains the overall cost owner.

A stopwatch record for one route is not an industry standard. Re-time when the edge requirement, part geometry, equipment, method, batch handling, or inspection plan changes.

Sources and scope

  • LaserCalc Pro time-accounting method

This page derives total minutes as the sum of each setup plus quantity × measured minutes/piece. It supplies no public finishing-time benchmark. The timing source must be the user’s documented shop measurement.

Reference workflow

  1. Match the job, material, machine head, and quality requirement to a row.
  2. Confirm the source, review date, and confidence before copying the value into a quote worksheet.
  3. Use a measured result or current OEM record when the row is marked as required or unverified.
