Raytools BM111 optical reference
Fiber Cutting Focal Length Lookup
Compare the two standard optical configurations listed in the historical Raytools BM111 V1.0 manual. These are head/lens specifications, not thickness-to-focus presets or a universal lens-selection chart.
Content reviewed 2026-11-02. Verify the applicability of each source before using a value in a quote.
Input to record
Installed head code, lens marking, OEM drawing revision, controller focus-zero reference, and material test result.
Output to carry forward
A checked optical configuration, followed by a separate measured workpiece-focus record for the specific job.
Focal length vs. focus offset
Focal length describes the optical configuration. Focus offset describes where the focused beam sits relative to a defined reference, such as the workpiece surface. A 125 mm lens does not mean a +125 mm workpiece offset. Record the machine’s zero reference and sign convention before transferring any offset.
The source’s §2.4.2 diagram labels its 125/155 mm configurations BM111001A and BM111002A, while §2.1 uses BM111A01A and BM111A02A. Those labels are preserved as distinct source labels. Confirm the exact installed assembly with Raytools or the machine builder; this table does not certify interchangeability or current availability.
Setup check
- Read the installed head code and lens marking; match the current OEM assembly drawing.
- Check the controller’s focus-zero definition. The historical BM111 §5.2 procedure defines its zero relative to the nozzle end face; do not silently treat this as workpiece-surface zero.
- After lens or laser replacement, use the current authorized alignment/focus procedure and retain the calibration result.
- Run a job-specific test coupon and inspect against the drawing. The source provides no thickness, gas, power, or cut-speed recommendation for these lenses.
Optics and focus record

- Raytools BM111 series, V1.0, 2017-12-22 (manufacturer-authored manual mirror)
§2.1: BM111A01A / QBH / 100YYH / 125YYH and BM111A02A / QBH / 100YYH / 155YYH. §2.4.2 shows 100 mm collimation, 125/155 mm focus but uses different model labels. §5.2 requires focus-zero redetermination following lens or laser replacement.

Reference workflow
- Match the job, material, machine head, and quality requirement to a row.
- Confirm the source, review date, and confidence before copying the value into a quote worksheet.
- Use a measured result or current OEM record when the row is marked as required or unverified.
