Routine-scoped measurement record
Measured Piercing Time
Aggregate actual CAM pierce counts and measured seconds per routine. Keep the head, material, gas, timing boundaries, and reviewer decision with the result instead of selecting a strategy from an unsupported thickness threshold.
Content reviewed 2026-11-02. Verify the applicability of each source before using a value in a quote.
Input to record
Actual event counts by routine, measured seconds/event, CAM revision, machine/head, stock, gas setup, timing source, and approval record.
Output to carry forward
Total pierce seconds and minutes, with a routine-level CSV and the scope needed before using the result in a cycle-time quote.
Measured pierce groups
Group actual CAM events by the exact measured routine. Enter seconds per event, not minutes. The tool adds measured event time; it does not choose a piercing strategy or duplicate the full cycle-time calculator. Inputs stay local and clear on reload.
| Routine / revision | Events | Seconds/event | Total seconds | Action |

Name each routine and enter whole nonnegative event counts. A group with events needs a positive finite measured duration.
Timing boundary
Record whether the timed routine includes preflow, focus movement, pulse/dwell, breakthrough confirmation, and post-delay. Do not add the same controller delay again if the CAM cycle already includes it. Use separate groups when routine duration differs; the tool does not infer these durations from power or thickness.
A notional 20 events × 1.5 seconds plus 10 events × 3 seconds equals 60 seconds, or 1 minute. These are arithmetic inputs only, not recommended piercing times. Feeding, travel, loading, and finishing remain separate stages.
Sources and scope
Content reviewed 2026-11-02. A documentation reference supports the stated method or data only; it does not approve settings on another machine.
- Raytools BM111 V1.0, 2017-12-22 (manufacturer-authored manual mirror)
§5.1 beam centering; §5.2 focus-zero redetermination; §6.3.2 capacitance recalibration after nozzle/ceramic replacement; §3.2.2 gas contamination mechanism. Historical BM111 scope only; use current authorized instructions.
- LaserCalc Pro measured-time method
Sum(count × measured seconds/event), then divide by 60. No machine piercing duration, material threshold, or strategy setting is supplied.

| Record | Check / method | Output | Boundary | Source / method | Applicability | Confidence | Reviewed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Actual pierce events | Count programmed pierces by routine in CAM; record restart/re-pierce assumptions separately | Whole event count for each timed routine | Do not infer the count from hole count alone; edge starts and shared paths can change it | LaserCalc Pro measured-event accounting method | Actual CAM program and revision | Program review required; no automatic file parsing | 2026-11-02 |
| Measured seconds per event | Record which controller stages are inside the measured interval, repetitions, and raw duration | Measured seconds/event for the exact routine, head, stock, and gas setup | Do not add delay twice when it is already included in controller/CAM cycle time | LaserCalc Pro measured-event accounting method | Recorded machine, material/lot, thickness, gas, nozzle, and routine revision | Timed shop evidence required | 2026-11-02 |
| Mixed-routine total | For each group multiply event count × measured seconds/event; add group seconds | Total seconds / 60 = total minutes | Piercing only; excludes feed, travel, loading, and any separately counted gas stage | Derived arithmetic, not a machine performance claim | Non-overlapping event groups on one job | Deterministic calculation; input confidence depends on measurement | 2026-11-02 |
| Release and re-test | Attach coupon result, source revision, operator, reviewer, and drawing acceptance criteria | Unreviewed, approved by shop, rejected, or re-test required | Recheck setup after nozzle/ceramic changes; redetermine focus after lens/laser replacement | BM111 V1.0 §§5.1, 5.2, 6.3.2 for check triggers; shop controls approval | OEM statements apply to historical BM111 only; other machines use their own instructions | Scoped OEM triggers; approval is the shop’s decision | 2026-11-02 |
Reference workflow
- Match the job, material, machine head, and quality requirement to a row.
- Confirm the source, review date, and confidence before copying the value into a quote worksheet.
- Use a measured result or current OEM record when the row is marked as required or unverified.
