Stock area record

Remnant and Yield Ledger

Reconcile starting stock against accepted part area, tagged reusable remnant, and waste. Calculate good-part yield without confusing recovered stock area with a material-charge policy.

Content reviewed 2026-11-02. Verify the applicability of each source before using a value in a quote.

Input to record

Net stock, accepted-part, reusable-remnant, and waste areas in mm²; stock identity, material batch, CAM evidence, credit policy, and reviewer.

Output to carry forward

Good-part yield, good plus reusable area, waste ratio, unallocated area, and an exportable ledger. Negative reconciliation is rejected; no material price is inferred.

Area ledger

Use one stock piece or a clearly bounded stock batch. Enter actual net areas in mm² from the same CAM or measured basis. Each region belongs to exactly one category. Hole slugs, kerf, trim, rejects, and skeleton belong in waste unless separately tagged and approved for reuse. For irregular remnants use the usable shape area, not its bounding rectangle.

Enter all four areas, including explicit zero values where appropriate.

Yield is an area ratio. It does not decide the material charge. A shop may charge full stock, credit an approved remnant, or follow customer-owned-stock rules. Do not count remnant area as sold good parts or deduct the same credit twice. No price or credit is inferred here.

Local draft only. Refresh clears inputs; download the record first. A balanced ledger is not a nesting, geometry, cost, or quality approval.

Sources and scope

  • LaserCalc Pro calculation methodology

Repository methodology: use shop CAM, remnant, scrap, invoice, machine, and completed-job evidence. This is an authored calculation/recording method, not an external inspection standard or parameter benchmark.

  • LaserCalc Pro scrap allowance and yield policy

Defines sellable-area yield and the separate shop decision for reusable remnants, material charging, and credits. No public yield target or remnant credit is supplied.

Reference workflow

  1. Match the job, material, machine head, and quality requirement to a row.
  2. Confirm the source, review date, and confidence before copying the value into a quote worksheet.
  3. Use a measured result or current OEM record when the row is marked as required or unverified.
